NSW police have had a busy week, after seizing over $8.5 million in cannabis in two major operations.
Police first executed three search warrants on properties in the Blue Mountains on November 3rd. The properties were all alleged hydroponics houses, located on Boronia Road and Railway Rd in Bullaburra and Cliff Drive in Katoomba. Police seized 1,209 mature cannabis plants and four vehicles, including a Range Rover. Police estimate the value of the seized cannabis at $3 million.Â
Officers at the Boronia Rd address arrested three people, charging a 42-year-old woman from Cabramatta and a 44-year-old man from St Johns Park. Both appeared in court on Wednesday after being charged with using electricity without authority, organising drug premises, and the enhanced indoor cultivation of cannabis.Â
NSW Police followed this up on November 4th by seizing $5.5 million in cannabis in the state’s mid-north coast, when police executed a search warrant at a remote property on Williams Road, Bonville.Â
Detectives from the Drug and Firearms Squad seized 1,845 cannabis plants, some of which were growing in a shelter. Two men were also arrested at the scene and were taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station.Â
Both men, aged 22 and 29, were charged with cultivating a prohibited plant in a large commercial quantity as well as participating in a criminal group. They were denied bail on November 5th.Â
