Australian charity United in Compassion (UIC) has released the first details of their 2021 Medical Cannabis Symposium, which includes networking events, educational resources, presentations, and exhibitions.
UIC was instrumental in legalising medical cannabis in Australia, and have been running the Medical Cannabis Symposium since 2014.
This year, the symposium will feature specialists discussing the latest medical cannabis research, as well as legislative and social issues related to medical cannabis prescribing, cost and access (like drug driving laws). The symposium will also focus on the medical cannabis industry and will cover regulations, manufacturing, and agronomy within Australia.
According to a statement from UIC’s co-founder and director Lucy Haslam, these topics will be covered by a range of local and international experts in medical cannabis.
We look around the country and the globe to find expert speakers on this wide range of topics from Doctors, Nurses, Researchers, Academics, Legislators, Legal experts etc.
The 2021 symposium will be held at the Twin Waters Novotel Resort on the Sunshine Coast. It will run from Friday the 13th to Sunday the 15th of August 2021. The event will feature:
- A two-day general symposium featuring presentations from local and international medical cannabis experts
- A three-day trade exhibition featuring booths from organisations within the medical cannabis industry
- The Inaugural Nurses Medicinal Cannabis Conference, which will be held on the Friday and limited to nurses
- An event held by the Australian Chapter of the Society of Cannabis Clinicians, which will be limited to healthcare professionals
- A networking welcome event held on a private beach on the Friday night
- A three-course gala dinner featuring a guest speaker and held on the Saturday night
All three days of the symposium are fully catered. The symposium will be open to healthcare professionals, people within Australia’s cannabis industry and anyone with a personal or professional interest in medicinal cannabis.Â
As UIC is looking to run a large-scale event that will represent Australia’s medical cannabis industry on an international scale, they are graciously seeking the support of sponsors. There are a range of sponsorship levels available with the potential for branding, print advertising, speaking opportunities, and trade booths.
The Inaugural Nurses Medicinal Cannabis Conferences has already been sponsored by the Australian Nurses and Midwifery Federation, however, UIC cannot run a world-class event without other sponsors.
Funding pledges made towards the symposium are fully tax-deductible for the 2020-21 Financial Year, as UIC is a registered charity. Unfortunately, there is a risk that the symposium will be cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic. In that situation, funding pledges will be refunded.Â
Further details on the symposium are available on UIC’s website here. If you’d like to sponsor the event, or know someone who might, contact Lucy at [email protected]
