Who says stoners can’t be successful? In 2020, our opinions on cannabis are changing with each new development. The world just isn’t the same place it used to be – and that’s partially due to the work of some of cannabis’s most successful smokers. Today, let’s pay them a tribute.

Bill Maher
Bill Maher made headlines in 2016 after lighting up a joint on Real Time with Bill Maher, but of course, Bill Maher isn’t just a social smoker. He also sits on the board of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. Go, Bill!

Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga is an advocate for a lot of causes – mental health, LGBT rights, and (unsurprisingly) cannabis! While she has reportedly given up the 15-joint-a-day habit she had back in her ‘Born This Way’ tour, she still uses the drug to be creative.

Carl Sagan
Carl Sagan was one of the world’s most famous astronomists – but he didn’t like to look at the stars alone. He used weed in his work, but also to enhance his creativity. Sagan was also a huge inspiration and friend Dr Lester Grinspoon, another famous advocate of cannabis.

Bob Dylan
Bob Dylan’s wasn’t just a smoker for musical inspiration, allegedly, he also takes credit for introducing The Beatles to weed.

Bill Gates
Bill Gates is the richest advocate on this list, but he is also a long-time pot smoker. A keeper of the habit since college, Bill Gates publicly backed the 2012 Washington referendum for cannabis legalisation.

Michael Phelps
Michael Phelps has over 28 Olympic metals and, according to a viral Youtube video, a set of lungs that like the taste of fresh kush.

Jimi Hendrix
Jimi Hendrix holds two stoner special awards. Not only does he have his own strain of marijuana named after him, but his 1967 album Axis: Bold as Love is considered the number one greatest stoner record.

Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs may never have seemed like a smoker in his lifetime, but the tech billionaire was a huge pot fan. Rumour has it, he used cannabis to keep himself focused on the job.

Ben and Jerry
Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield might be the strangest additions to this list, but the ice cream connoisseurs apparently also have a pot habit. They would have launched their own line of edibles, but it turns out they were ahead of the times.
