The Hemp Building Company is a Victorian retailer of hemp-based building materials, including hempcrete. The company was founded by former Victorian Police officer and licensed builder, Joe D’Alo. Joe runs the business out of his Kyenton workshop as well as running Hempcrete Installers Certificate courses for building professionals, tradespeople and the public. 

The Hemp Building Company’s hempcrete has a GreenSmart accreditation and a CodeMark certification. Their materials are also BCA compliant and certified in Australia and New Zealand. The Hemp Building Company also sells hempcrete directly to the public through their Artisan Sample Kit, as hempcrete is gaining popularity in sculptures, art installations and pottery. 

Since starting his building career in 2005, Joe D’Alo’s environmentally-friendly homes have been featured in Habitus, Home Beautiful and the Green Magazine.
